Anaerobic microorganisms from solid waste treatment process

Solid waste

With the support of The Swedish Energy Agency solid waste digestion has become the largest of the active anaerobic R&D projects at AnoxKaldnes. Key parameters relating to gas yield that are currently under investigation include:

  • Dry solids content
  • Pre treatment
  • Substrate and substrate mixtures
  • Temperature
  • Process conditions, e.g. organic acids

This project also includes the evaluation of analytical methods and systems design studies for life cycle analysis.

Municipal wastewater

Anaerobic treatment of municipal wastewater is being investigated in a collaborative project ”Hammarby Sjöstad”. Various treatment process strategies such as UASB and anaerobic membrane reactors are being tested.

Industrial wastewater

Anaerobic biofilm processes are also part of the R&D activity for in-mill treatment of process water (whitewater) in paper production.
